RELIGIONS
Religion has historically influenced Indian society on a political, cultural and economic level. India has a population of 1.3 billion of people and it's home to several religions, but the most common is Hinduism at 80% of the population. Although, Hinduism has a lot of worshippers it isn't the official religion of this country because India doesn't have one. Apart from Hinduism the other three main religions are Islam followed by 18%, Christianity by 2%, and Sikhism by 2%. Other very important religions in India are Buddhism and Jainism which are followed by 1% of people. These religions are key for the development of Indian society and continually impact contemporary society.
